Navigating CloudBees Core

This chapter describes how to navigate the interface of your Operations Center instance to access its various features.

Accessing Manage Jenkins

The Manage Jenkins area of the Operations Center interface provides access to the core management features of your Operations Center instance.

To access Manage Jenkins:

  1. Ensure you are logged in to Operations Center as a user with the Administer permission.

  2. From the Operations Center home page/Dashboard, click Manage Jenkins on the left.

The Manage Jenkins page provides access to the following manegement features of your Operations Center instance:

  • Configure System - Configures global settings and paths for Operations Center.

  • Configure Global Security - Secures Operations Center and defines who can access and use the system.

  • Beekeeper Upgrade Assistant - Manages the upgrade of Operations Center and its plugins, including plugins which are part of the CloudBees Assurance Program.

  • Configure Credentials - Configures credential providers and types.

  • Configure Analytics - Configures Elasticsearch and the storage and reporting of analytics.

  • Global Tool Configuration - Configures tools, their locations and automatic installers for Operations Center.

  • Reload Configuration from Disk - Discards all loaded configuration-related data in memory and reloads it from the file system.

  • Manage Plugins - Installs, updates, disables, enables or removes plugins that can extend the functionality of Operations Center.

  • System Information - Lists your Operations Center instance’s system properties, environment variables, plugins and thread dumps to assist with troubleshooting.

  • System Log - Provides access to the output of java.util.logging associated with your Operations Center instance and allows the managment of additional loggers.

  • Load Statistics - Checks the utilization of your Operations Center instance’s resources.

  • Jenkins CLI - Provides access to the Jenkins command line interface (CLI) tool (jenkins-cli.jar), which you can download from this page and contains detailed information about using this tool and its features.

  • Script Console - Allows the execution of arbitrary Groovy scripts directly through the Operations Center interface, for administration, diagnostic and troubleshooting purposes.

  • Manage Nodes - Adds, removes, controls and monitors nodes (i.e. typically agents) that your Operations Center instance runs jobs/Pipeline projects on.

  • High Availability Status - Monitors the status of your Operations Center cluster.

  • Move/Copy/Promote History - Provides a history of move/copy/promote operations, where the source item originates on your Operations Center instance.

  • Cluster Operations - Provides access to a history of ad hoc operations on your Operations Center cluster, such as preparing the cluster for a shutdown, a safe restart or a reindex of analytics.

  • About Jenkins - Lists your Operations Center instance’s version and license information, including its numerous 3rd party libraries.

  • Manage Old Data - Re-saves old configuration files in an updated format that your Operations Center instance could utilize. This feature can also help remove configuration data remnants left behind from old plugins and earlier product versions.

  • Manage License - Manages your current Operations Center instance’s license.

  • Manage Users - Creates, modifies or deletes users of your Operations Center instance.

  • Manage Roles (only visible if the Role-based matrix authorization strategy is selected) - Allows the definition of roles, each of which can be assigned a subset of multiple permissions. Roles can then be applied to users through groups.
    Note: You can access Role-based matrix authorization strategy through the Configure Global Security feature.

  • Prepare for Shutdown - Prepares your Operations Center instance for shutdown.
